ABOUT US

Craig and Michele Capstick moved to Wanaka in 2007 from Gore having holidayed at Lake Hawea for 10 years. It had been a dream to own and run a bed and breakfast lodge in an area that has brought them so much pleasure and they took over Alpine View Lodge in 2009.

A highlight of their new role as hosts is meeting all the different nationalities of people that stay at Alpine View and they pride themselves on their ability to advise on the best activities in the area and make their guests' stay a memorable one.

A founder of Wanaka Toastmasters, Craig walks Mt Iron every day and encourages guests to walk it also; he also enjoys bike riding having just completed the Motatapu ride in March and is a keen fisherman. Michele enjoys reading, is an avid scrapbooker, and gets in involved in the local community with the local Upper Clutha Lions group and the Wanaka Genealogy group.

Sharing the property is their dog Scruffy (who ran into their garage 10 years ago and never left) and Milly, their Siamese who, despite the efforts of Scruffy, is enjoying a dignified Wanaka retirement at the age of 9.

"We've had a fabulous time here in your bit of paradise! Your place was absolutely wonderful. Horseback riding, mountain biking and rock climbing were all great"

Alison & Graham, Canada.
